Urban Meyer making offensive coaching staff changes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)–Urban Meyer’s tinkering with his offensive coaching staff, bringing in one of his former assistants to help stabilize a young offensive line.

FootballScoop.com was the first report Thursday night that Meyer has hired Greg Studrawa as the new offensive line coach for the Buckeyes. Studrawa played at Bowling Green and coached for Meyer when both were on the staff at BG. Studrawa has recently served as an assistant at LSU and Maryland. Studrawa worked as an offensive coordinator while at LSU.

OSU Offensive Coordinator Ed Warriner will remain in that role, but will move from coaching the offensive line to tight ends. Former tight ends coach Tim Hinton is expected to take on an administrative role with the program.

Warriner was calling offensive plays from the sideline during the season but moved to the coaches’ box for the Michigan game and the Fiesta Bowl, with notably different results. The Buckeye offense flourished as Warriner concentrated on play calling. Presumably, bringing Studrawa on board will free Warriner up on game day to continue calling plays from the booth.

Ohio State has not confirmed the changes and as recently as last week Meyer told reporters he did not anticipate any further staff changes. Former Rutgers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano was hired in December to replace Chris Ash as the defensive co-coordinator and safeties coach.
